Employee Diversity

In 2016, Darigold has just over 1,400 employees. Here’s our total employee headcount and diversity data for 2012-2015.

Employee Data

Number of Employees Number of Female Employees Number of Minority Employees % of Female Employees % of Minority Employees % of Management Positions Held By Females % of Management Positions Held by Minoirities
2012 1,130 152 271 13.4% 24.0% 17.9% 13.5%
2013 1,215 173 296 14.2% 24.4% 19.4% 13.3%
2014 1,346 196 317 14.6% 23.6% 22.2% 14.2%
2015 1,358 203 315 14.9% 23.2% 21.9% 14.5%

Overall, Darigold’s minority worker ratios are similar to the demographics in the region. The ratio of female to male employees (around 14%) is low, reflecting the history of dairy and manufacturing as male dominated industries. We take a number of steps to recruit and support female and minority workers. For example, we currently post all of our jobs on diversitywashington.com, which then posts on multiple job sites that specialize in diversity.

Employee Benefits

In 2016, we made significant employee benefits plan design improvements on our next-generation medical plan to help limit out-of-pocket exposure for employees and encourage them to get wellness care. We also increased employer sponsored life insurance benefits from $50,000 to 1.5x salary up to $200,000. The opportunity to buy-up additional life insurance coverage was increased to $500,000. Employer sponsored long-term disability benefits were increased to 60% from 40% income replacement. Lastly, on the 401(k) plan we accelerated our vesting structure, improving from a six-year vesting period to a two-year vesting period. Beyond the health benefits plan improvements, 10 employees are currently participating in our tuition reimbursement program.
